Karate Kids is a specially designed martial arts program that teaches children the values of life. When people work hard for something, generally they get rewarded. With the Karate Kids program, we are instilling the lifeskills of working hard (determination), never giving up (perseverance) and always being honest (integrity). Through these lifeskills, the children are able to understand that not everything in life is free, but when you work for something of value, and achieve that goal, it is well worth the effort.
The main part of the Karate Kids program is based around the lifeskills that are taught every week in the classes. These lifeskills (family values) are taught by a staff of certified instructors. All of the sudden, everything that mom and dad (role models) have been stressing for years are also taught by the instructors (mentors) and the children see the values in a different light. With the parents and instructors working with the same common goal in mind (a successful child), we can instill lifeskills that will last a lifetime. In order for this to happen, parents must understand our reward system…
Karate Kids Reward Systems
The first reward is a White Belt. This belt is given to the Karate
Kid after completing his/her first taekwondo class. On their second
class, they will be eligible to earn their first stripe on their
belt! Additional visual awards will be given for various deeds.
Every class your child will receive a Champion Deeds Slip to be
filled out at home before the next class. Upon turning these Champion
Deeds slips in, your child will receive ONE Award Slip.
FIVE Award slips and your child gets his first Champion Belt Buddy!
Every five Award slips earns one belt buddy. Upon reaching 25 belt
buddies, your child will earn an Excellence Star to be worn on their
uniform pants. Belt buddies may also be earned through:
- Reading 10 books (using the lifeskill self-discipline)
- Competition inside or outside of TKD (using the
lifeskill courage)
- Good Grades and conduct (using the lifeskills
focus, respect and
self-discipline)
Straight A's with good Conduct earns 2 Belt Buddies
A's and B's with good Conduct earns 1 Belt Buddy
Daily Champion Deed Sheets
are given in class to reinforce and create positive behavior and
good habits in your child when he/she is at home, school and in
public settings.
What our parents and students have to say
about our programs:
“We have a very good overall feeling of the Black Belt Academy! Vishal has been training with The Black Belt Academy (both in Kingwood and The Woodlands) for two and a half years. He has become more confident in his physical self. He was always awkward in his body movements – he has overcome much of that. He was also very timid – Taekwondo has helped him become more aggressive (in a good way!). At home, his training has helped him feel comfortable speaking up – he lets us know if something is troubling him – something we WANT to know!”
- Patel, Bhavesh & Shital; Parents of Vishal Age: 8
